Duck Creek Technologies is a global technology company providing SaaS–based solutions to the insurance industry. The Director, Legal, position will report to the VP of Legal, Deputy General Counsel and will work primarily on commercial transactions for our SaaS and professional services and matters related to: cloud services, data privacy, data security, procurement, marketing, product counseling, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, and general corporate matters.

You will provide timely and practical legal advice to company business leaders and will help the business through key transformations. Most of your time will be dedicated to drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including complex SaaS contract for mission–critical core systems , as well as agreements for p rofessional s ervices and other related transactions . However, we are looking for an all–around player who is excited to have a positive impact in a company serving the insurance industry . Y ou should also be prepared to:

Develop a close understanding of the company's products, services and business models

Drive initiatives to improve and scale legal functions across the company

Provide timely and practical legal advice to company business leaders

Develop and maintain strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and industry guidance in the cloud computing and software industry , including global data privacy , security and intellectual property

Update and maintain standardized agreement templates

Further develop the company's compliance progra ms

Counsel product developers in legal matters relating to foreign markets and new business scenarios for the company

Maintain and grow our intellectual property portfolio

Be ready to grow with the needs and evolution of the company.

WHAT YOU'VE DONE

Candidates should :

H old a J.D. or LL.M. degree and be members in good standing of at least one State Bar . ( We will also consider UK or European law degrees with French fluency , if candidate is legal to work in United States)

H ave a combination of law firm and in–house experience, including strong experience with commercial and technology transactions and other corporate areas identified above

Have 8+ years of legal experience ( candidates with shorter experience may apply in case a second position opens soon )

Have s trong experience with commercial and technology transactions, with a background in drafting and negotiating agreements independently

D eep k nowledge of data privacy, compliance, and/or cloud services is a plus. CIPP/US and/or CIPP/EU certification is a plus . Fluency in foreign languages is a plus

C ombine strong legal acumen with practical, business–friendly judgment

C ollaborate well with team members and functions across the company

English fluency required . Fluency in foreign languages is a plus

Be able to travel 10% time

Be l egally authorized to work in the country of the job location (United States, United Kingdom or France) .
