This position will provide support to the legal department of Nebraska Medicine, an academic health system that includes two hospitals, a physician practice group, and multiple affiliated legal entities.
The position may support the department in one or more of the following areas: compliance, data security, employment, information technology, health insurance, intellectual property, pharmacy, privacy, real estate, trademark, patient rights and responsibilities, and/or contracts (including reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts and corporate legal documents). The position will evaluate transactions for compliance with legal and regulatory requirements perform research and analysis on a variety of legal matters, and translate legal concepts into guidance that is easy to understand and applicable to internal business units. The position will also support members of the legal department with other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree OR Associates degree in Paralegal Studies OR Associates degree and Paralegal Certificate OR equivalent combination of experience and education (one year of experience equals one year of education) required.
Minimum five years of paralegal experience in a law firm or in–house corporate legal department or five years of experience in an equivalent position in a relevant focus area within a corporation (for example, in compliance, contract administration or contract management), to include experience performing legal research, and/or reviewing, drafting, and actively negotiating contracts required.
High ethical standards and integrity required.
Driven self–starter able to work independently with minimal supervision while still demonstrating good judgment required.

Meticulous attention to detail required.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and strong customer service mindset required.
Ability to prioritize and manage a diverse and constantly changing workload in a fast–paced environment required.


Preferred Qualifications:


Health law experience; familiarity with key health care laws (for example, Anti–Kickback, HIPAA, HITECH, and Cures)

Experience in contracting, particularly in a healthcare setting
Experience in research, corporate governance, registration and licensure, legal operations, and/or legal administrative support.
