This position is an in–house Counsel position that will assist in advancing the important business objectives, interests and image of the company through various activities, with a focus on vendor/supplier contracting. The ideal candidate will have Medicaid and/or Medicare managed care subject matter knowledge and an ability to develop an understanding of the business and operational goals of assigned internal clients, proactively advise business partners on a wide variety of matters, and work collaboratively with other attorneys on matters related to legal and regulatory compliance.

The position will be primarily responsible for:
  • Providing contracting support to various business units, including health plans and/or corporate shared services, including assisting in the negotiation of complex business arrangements.
  • Strong and proven negotiation skills working on vendor and other third–party agreements supporting a company's Corporate Sourcing / Procurement department. Background in managing high risk, complex, high dollar value transactions of critical importance to the company.
  • Complex commercial real estate leasing negotiation experience required, including experience handling SNDA and Estoppel documents.
  • Managing a trademark portfolio and coordinating trademark application and search matters with outside counsel. Strong understanding of intellectual property law (especially copyrights, trademarks and licensing) preferred.
  • Knowledge of record retention / information management related legal issues.
  • General understanding of HIPAA and data privacy issues preferred.
  • Identifying business and legal risks and working with the business to provide solutions that balance legal issues and business objectives. Demonstrated ability to think strategically when balancing business need with legal risks while delivering high quality and timely legal services.
  • Operating with a high degree of integrity, in alignment with company mission and culture.
  • Strong attention to detail, as well as effective communication, listening and drafting skills are critical for this role.
Education/Experience:
  • Licensed to practice law in at least one state.
  • Pennsylvania In–House Counsel License if licensed outside of Pennsylvania
  • 5 + years of experience in the legal field as an attorney.
  • Experience as an in–house counsel in the health care industry preferred.
  • Prior managed care experience would be a plus.
  • Experience managing outside counsel preferred.
