SUMMARY:


As a key member of the Legal Department team, support, manage and provide legal advice regarding the company's corporate and commercial matters and transactions.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • This position reports to the company's Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer, and may supervise a team of attorneys, paralegals, administrative assistants and/or clerks.
  • Partnering with sales, marketing, finance and other cross–functional teams throughout the business, develop and oversee the company's commercial contracting and licensing strategy, with primary responsibilities for review, negotiation and drafting of commercial agreements, supporting the business partners in execution of contracts, managing legal risks, preserving the legal and ethical integrity of the company and in achieving strategic goals.
  • Partnering with the business and cross–functional teams, develop and oversee the company's corporate transactions, real estate, anti–trust, mergers & acquisitions, legal entity structure and logistics transactions and strategy.
  • Actively manage and supervise outside counsel and budgets in connection with the above–described matters.

MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Juris doctor degree from an accredited law school of recognized standing; current license practice law in Minnesota; as well as admissions to the appropriate federal and state bar(s).
  • 8 or more years of broad–based experience as a practicing attorney in a corporate or law firm environment (preferably both).
  • Strong working knowledge of, and experience with, all substantive areas of law described within the attorney's job responsibilities and duties.
  • Significant prior experience supervising outside trial counsel.
  • Ability to judge character, distinguish relevant facts, assimilate and analyze facts, and apply legal principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work with others in a team environment at all levels within the company.
  • Ability to manage confidential information and material with the highest degree of professional responsibility.
  • Ability to exercise independent and discretionary judgment.
  • Strong planning, organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficient in negotiation.
  • Ability to resolve complex legal issues, including issues involving modestly complicated financial and operational data.


ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:


  • Primarily indoor in normal office environment.

  • Periodic visits to manufacturing, distribution, research, and retail facilities.

  • Principal office located in Oak Park Heights, Minnesota.

  • Work to be performed primarily on–premises, although reasonable telecommuting will be accommodated commensurate with job responsibilities.

  • Frequent computer use at desk.

  • Some light lifting of cartons and supplies (generally under 15 pounds).

  • Frequently works at fast pace with high degree of concentration required.

  • Periodic local and out–of–town travel (including overnight stays and air travel).

    In 2023, Andersen has set a profit–sharing target of $4,000 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
