Job Title: – Intellectual Property Litigation Associate

Description:



Our client is looking for an associate to join their IP Firm. The IP Associate will assist in preparing for depositions, document productions, and hearings and trials in various courts and agencies including the US Patent and Trademark Office. The practice emphasizes patent and trademark litigation.


  • At least 3 years of practice and substantial litigation experience

Partner Track – Associates generally are first eligible to become a shareholder after seven years



Duties:


  • Structuring, drafting, and negotiating complex agreements, including technology, distribution, licensing, and marketing contracts
  • Resolving issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and handling pre–litigation legal disputes and inquiries
  • Assists with assembly of exhibits and appendices for court papers, depositions, and trials.
  • Organizes paper and electronic documents for use in depositions or trials.
  • Assists with document collection, review and production.
  • Prepares for and attends depositions, hearings, trials and arbitrations as directed.
  • Files and obtains documents at various courts and agencies.
  • Utilizes legal research software.
  • Conducts research using various resources including databases and the internet.

Qualifications:


  • JD degree and ADMITTED TO THE CALIFORNIA STATE BAR and the USPTO
  • At least 3 full years of experience practicing law
  • Substantial litigation experience
  • Electrical engineering or computer science degree is preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations
  • Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross–functional teams
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet deadlines
