Position Details:
The IP Paralegal will work closely with attorneys and other case team members on the firm's IP litigation cases to deliver best in class services to clients. This position requires significant experience with complex US civil litigation, including the organization of documents and evidence, case filings, preparation for depositions, court hearings and trial, and working with e–discovery and case management software. Our IP practice consists of complex patent and trade secret cases in federal and state courts and the United States International Trade Commission.

Supervisor: Assistant Managing Attorney

Location: San Francisco or New York

Primary Responsibilities:

Support attorneys and other case team members in IP cases from the pre–suit investigation through trial phases
Coordinate and communicate efficiently and effectively with the attorneys, legal analysts, litigation assistants and other support staff professionals to ensure all deadlines are met in a timely manner
Take ownership of assignments related to the IP process, managing timelines, and ensuring deadlines are met
Determine if additional resources and time are required for the successful completion of tasks; confer with lead attorneys on case budget when necessary
Establish and develop protocols, procedures, and work product templates to ensure cases are managed and organized
Establish and maintain the infrastructure and organization for all case files in preparation for drafting motions, expert reports, depositions, and trial
Coordinate with the e–Discovery team to being the process of document review, document production, and database maintenance
Oversee, coordinate, and take ownership of all aspects of discovery, including, the organization, management, collection, and production of electronic discovery
Oversee, coordinate, and take ownership of all aspects of pre–trial and trial assignments: creating workflows and templates in preparation for motions, deposition designations, witness and exhibit selection and preparation, prepare and maintain a virtual war room, create, and maintain trial task list to ensure efficiency, assist with witness and cross examination processes etc

Requirements:

B.A. from an accredited college or university
Minimum 5 years' experience as a litigation paralegal (IP experience preferred)
Working knowledge of civil litigation in Federal and State Courts, legal procedures, terminology, and court rules
Experience with Relativity, CaseMap Suite, and Trial Director preferred
Trial experience is strongly preferred
Possess strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to details and accuracy
Proactively follow through and demonstrate ability to anticipate and address business needs
Strong organization, prioritization, and multi–tasking skills in a fast paced, high pressure environment
Demonstrate a strong work ethic and self–motivation with a desire to take initiative
Possess excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with an ability to exercise a high degree of professionalism, diplomacy, and confidentiality in interactions with all levels of the organization
Ability to collect, organize, analyze and efficiently present significant amounts of information
Highly adaptable to a fluid and ever–changing work environment
Strong proficiency in MS Office required

_At the time of posting, the salary range for this role is US $100,000 – US $150,000.This range is based on a full–time work schedule. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus. The successful candidate's actual salary will be determined based on permissible, non–discriminatory factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, training, skills, and market data._
