Unit Description: The US Patent & Trademark Office is headquartered in Alexandria, VA is the federal agency for granting U.S. patents and registering trademarks. The USPTO advises the President of the United States, Secretary of Commerce and the U.S. Government agencies on intellectual property policy, protection, and enforcement. Principal Function: The Audio–Visual Technician is a client facing, highly self–motivated, organized and driven candidate who is responsible for setting up, installing, operating, testing, and troubleshooting audio and video technology equipment. Candidate can work as a member of a production team or work independently on assigned projects without supervision. The candidate will resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, however the Sodexo site manager may assign other duties as needed. Essential Responsibilities: Serves as Broadcast/Audio Visual subject matter expert on high level events. Familiar with Broadcast & Webcasting protocols and procedures. Deliver, set–up, test, and operate audio–visual equipment for large scale events. Maintains and troubleshoots equipment issues. Creates trouble tickets, reports, and escalates equipment issues to site lead and engineering staff. Coordinates equipment operation by lifting and relocating equipment from one area of the facility to another. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications and services Experience with Allen & Heath digital audio mixing console Experience with NewTek TriCaster TC1/TC2 Ability to work independently on assigned projects with minimal supervision. Installs and operates equipment such as microphones, portable audio/video recording, confidence monitors, and computers. Familiar with Crestron DM routing, Dante Audio networking, DMX lighting, PTZ camera systems. Experience in online meeting platforms: Microsoft Teams meeting, Teams Live Event, WebEx meetings and events, and Zoom meetings & Zoom webinars. Occasionally offers advice to presenters on solutions and alternatives to technical setup. Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures. Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner. Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments. Applies all applicable OSHA and related local authority safety requirements to all assigned work. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Completes training programs (classroom or virtual) as designated. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Maximize Sodexo Live!'s revenue and operational excellence through execution of systems and policies related to administrative operations. Contribute to goal of making Sodexo Live! in Event Hospitality and the Employer of Choice through personal commitment and leading by example. Qualifications/Skills: College Degree, High School diploma, or equivalent experience. 3 to 5 years of related work experience. Display a proper business friendly demeanor with technical personnel and non–technical users, especially during high stress situations. Demonstrated success in interfacing with a variety of organizational functions and divisions to accomplish tasks. Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management; Ability to promote and participate in team environment concepts. Self starter who can work independently and on several tasks/projects simultaneously, and who can contribute to functional areas of the business outside of retail operations. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Initiative in identifying and resolving problems timely and effectively. Other Requirements: Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly–quartered environment.
