Senior BD Manager (IP & Tech Transactions) - Leading International Law

This role represents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and talented business development professional to join a leading international law firm in a Senior BD Manager role focused primarily on supporting the BD efforts of the firm's Intellectual Property group and technology transactions.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Business Development Manager to take a lead role in the management of the Intellectual Property practice group globally. The role will also take specific responsibility for supporting technology transactions lawyers as part of the senior team driving the firm's technology vertical. You will be tasked with providing strategic business development advice, practical marketing support and financial and operational support to a significant international practice group. The successful applicant will directly manage the business development team members in London supporting IP and technology transactions and will be expected to support and drive change within the team around continuous improvement to the value of the BD service platform, role clarity and focus. You will need to use your understanding of the field of intellectual property and a knowledge of IP–rich industries such as technology and life sciences to identify new business development opportunities and then formulate a business development strategy and tactical plans to seize these opportunities. The role holder will play a client facing role supporting partners in the management of key client relationships and in new business development opportunities and will be responsible for the development and implementation of pitch and matter debriefs including interviewing clients to assess the quality of their experience and make recommendations to partners based on the findings. The Senior BD Manager will also be required to look for proactive opportunities to raise the profile of the firm's IP and technology capabilities to both internal and external audiences.

The ideal candidate will possess substantial proven marketing experience gained at manager level whilst working within a professional services organisation where you frequently worked with senior management. Self–directed and entrepreneurial with a sense of personal ownership, the Senior BD Manager will also be a commercial individual, driven to work in a high–performance business development team at a global law firm where commercial insight, developing strong personal relationships and achieving tangible results are valued and recognised. Previous IP or technology transactions market experience is highly desirable.
