Full time – Senior Legal Counsel, Compliance and Regulatory
Location: Hybrid / Malta / EU Remote
Overview
Reporting to the Group GC the Senior Legal Counsel, Compliance and Regulatory will serve as the primary point for the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) license, ethics, and compliance program, ensuring the company exercises due diligence and sound internal controls to operate with integrity and protect against legal risk.

Responsibilities
Review of corporate/commercial agreements and will provide support as required to internal stakeholders across the business.
Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding contractual and/or regulatory interpretation, process, and protocols.
Develop and document ethics and compliance policies and procedures that meet OIG and SOX requirements, the federal sentencing guidelines and OCEG framework.
Implement, Maintain, and manage all training on compliance related subjects and hot–line processes.
Provide legal support on compliance Investigation and Audits.
Review marketing materials, campaign proposals and terms to ensure compliance with corporate policy and applicable legislation.
Undertake business and gaming license/permit applications.
Appointed as Key Responsible Person for Compliance roles with the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA).
Responsibility for the management of the AML team for the iGaming division
Establishing, managing, and maintaining relationships with external consultants and regulatory bodies (MGA)
Identifying, preventing, and correcting non–compliance with applicable laws and regulations for the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) license
Advising on compliance and regulatory issues relating to our existing (MGA) and future licenses
Support the Group GC with internal policy drafting/review and regulatory compliance requirements.
Provides legal compliance and regulatory guidance as needed pursuant to any applicable gaming and/or gaming related laws, rules and/or regulations.
Support the Group GC with company incorporations and other corporate regulatory filings, the upkeep of company books and board minutes.
Customer dispute arbitration and resolution.
Ensuring adherence with relevant data privacy laws, including assessment, monitoring, and control, and dealing with data privacy matters.
GDPR subject access requests.
With the Group GC to create an integrated risk framework, assessing risk, quantifying risk limits, developing plans to mitigate risk and manage any new license applications in regulated jurisdictions.
Work closely with Senior Management and human resources to evaluate and respond to suspected compliance violation and for consistent enforcement, disclosure, and remedial action protocols.
Promote and enhance knowledge in the legal and compliance areas across the business.
Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding contractual and/or regulatory interpretation, process, and protocols.
Work with antitrust lawyers to assess regulatory requirements, gain regulatory approval and analyse any other required approvals.
Requirements
Bachelors Degree or higher in Law
A minimum of 5 years+ as a practicing lawyer.
Must have 3 years plus experience within the online gambling industry, specifically with the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA).
US Securities Experience.
Previous experience in a senior management role.
Demonstrable working knowledge and experience in marketing and consumer related laws, media, sponsorship, advertising, and promotions in addition to privacy law, software and technology agreements and related intellectual property matters.
Strong negotiation, drafting and communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex legal issues in a clear manner.
Self–motivation, proactivity, and ability to learn quickly and work unsupervised under pressure.
Exceptional organisational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
