What you'll be doing

The Legal Team currently consists of four solicitors, a trainee solicitor and two paralegals. You will be working with the Head of Legal on a variety of legal issues relating to Future plc and its group companies. You will primarily be responsible for the provision of legal advice on a broad range of commercial and IP matters, as well as advising all levels of management on legal issues affecting Future's businesses in the UK, US and Australia.

You will be providing legal advice and support on commercial contracts, disputes, protecting Future's intellectual property assets and data protection, as well as promoting legal risk management. No two days are the same!

Experience that will put you ahead of the curve

We envisage that a lawyer with a minimum of 5 years' PQE will have the relevant skills and experience for this position, however, this is a guide only and we are happy to consider applicants who fall outside of this PQE range but have other appropriate experience.

  • Background in commercial, IP and data protection law and/or advising on a broad range of commercial issues.
  • In–house and/or corporate experience (particularly in the financial services sector) welcome but not essential.
  • A flexible approach with the ability to work individually, but also collaborate and work well with colleagues, both within the Legal/Finance team and across the company as a whole.
  • Comfortable working in a constantly changing environment.
  • Seen as reliable, trustworthy and dedicated.
  • Commercially focused, attuned to achieving business needs whilst ultimately managing legal risk; a strategic thinker who looks at the wider issues in proposing commercial solutions.
  • Clearly expresses complex ideas and information, using appropriate styles and approaches for different audiences.
  • Exceptionally well organised and able to juggle multiple tasks. Prioritises work in line with changing business needs.
  • Self–motivated and resilient.
