Job Details
- Handle complex case management for ITC and federal district court litigation including discovery, research, Markman hearings and trial preparation and attendance;
- Manage all trial preparation and support activity, including post–trial;
- Research, gather, analyze, and compile information and documents to assist in advising in litigation matters;
- Work with attorneys in the identification, interviewing, and preparation of witnesses and collection of documents;
- Conduct electronic searches and researches technical references, patents, copyrights, trademarks, and legal matters;
- Coordinate and manage large electronic discovery collections and productions using document review tools, like Relativity;
- Maintain all necessary information and materials from vendors, clients and government agencies such as the USPTO;
- Provide general assistance to attorneys, and prepares summaries of factual findings, legal research, and/or sequential and chronological events for attorneys;
- Interpret and understand U.S. Patent and Trademark Office rules, along with U.S State and Federal court rules;
- Communicate with court personnel, personnel at state and federal agencies, and other agencies regarding proceedings;
- Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality;
- Committed to work outside of normal business hours as needed;
- Meet the firm's paralegal billable–hours requirement; and,
- Assist with all other needs for project as requested.
Qualifications
- Experience in all phases of IP–litigation, including case assessment, discovery and motions practice, depositions, working with experts, and appeals;
- Experience with ITC trial preparation and logistics, a strong preference;
- Experience with inter parties review, post–grant review and covered business method reviews at the PTAB;
- Experience with IP due diligence work;
- Experience and technical expertise within Relativity (or other eDiscovery tools);
- Must be proficient with State & Federal electronic research tools and filing systems including Pacer, USPTO Pair, Westlaw, LexisNexis, etc.;
- Experience in preparing patent family summaries and estimates for prosecution matters;
- Ability to take the lead on dealing with client needs;
- Willingness to handle filings after hours, as needed;
- Excellent data entry and organizational skills;
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and coordinate projects;
- Ability to use good judgment, initiative, and command of resources to accomplish results;
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys, and staff to provide information with courtesy and tact;
- Ability to multitask and work independently;
- Ability to work well under pressure and be self–motivated;
