Position: IP Legal Secretary (In–Office in San Diego, CA 3 Days a Week, Remote 2 Days)
Job Responsibilities:
- Review and process incoming postal and electronic foreign and domestic mail related to intellectual property matters, including correspondence from the USPTO and foreign associates.
- Docket Management: Ensure that deadlines are accurately recorded and docketed, monitoring the daily docket to ensure all deadlines are met and filed.
- Reporting: Generate docket reports and prepare reports for clients regarding the status of their intellectual property matters.
- Correspondence: Prepare and send correspondences and responses.
- Calendar Management: Manage schedules, including scheduling conference calls and meetings.
- Trademark Management: Assist in preparing trademark applications, responses, cancellations/oppositions, and ensure proper filing with the USPTO.
- Legal Documents: Prepare various intellectual property–related legal documents, including assignments/transfers, software licenses, non–disclosure agreements, etc.
- Administrative Tasks: Perform secretarial functions associated with firm administrative tasks, including processing new client/matter requests, client bills, and expense reports.
- Billing Coordination: Review and coordinate attorneys' billings.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Education: bachelor???s degree preferred.
- Intellectual property and trademark experience.
- Experience: 3+ years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Docket Management: Proactive and efficient in managing dockets, correspondences, and trademark filings.
- E–Filing Systems: Current knowledge of E–filing systems, such as USPTO, WIPO, & Federal Courts.
- PTO Rules: Current knowledge of PTO rules and procedures.
- Experience with IP software systems like WebTMS, iManage, Compulaw, and/or FoundationIP is preferred.
Working Hours:
- 7.5–hour days, 3 days onsite 2 days remote.
- San Diego, CA.
- 8:30am ??? 5pm.
- This posting is a representative sample of the types of roles we typically place with our clients. Depending on the specific client, location, and role, the salary range is estimated to be $65,000 to $85,000 and benefits may include medical, dental, vision, and 401k plans.
