WHO YOU ARE

BENlabs is seeking an Associate Corporate Counsel to join our legal team and play a pivotal role in supporting the company business and legal affairs. You will forge relationships across numerous business verticals and provide strategic guidance and dynamic counsel on a variety of issues to an innovative and entrepreneurial business team in a rapidly growing, groundbreaking entertainment marketing company. You will negotiate deals with Fortune 500 companies, cutting edge startups, entertainment agencies, celebrities, professional athletes, and world famous social media influencers and provide vital guidance on regulatory matters, intellectual property, contract negotiation, and a wealth of other business critical legal matters.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support on negotiation of deals with clients, celebrity and influencer talent, and studios
• Act as a true business partner, advising on deal structure, concept, and execution
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, terms, and correspondence (including master services agreements, statements of work, memoranda of understanding and letters of intent, integration agreements, and talent agreements)
• Advise on legal risks and exposure at both the industry and campaign–specific levels
• Maintain knowledge and update the legal team regarding applicable laws, regulations, and industry guidance that impact BENlabs' agreements and business practices
• Conduct legal research and advise on various legal issues, including regulatory matters, intellectual property, data security, and advertising law
• Interface with outside counsel

Qualifications & Skills

• BA/BS degree and J.D. degree from a top law school
• Member of the California bar in good standing
• 1–3 years of transactional experience at a top tier law firm; experience in technology, intellectual property, entertainment, and/or startup work is a plus
• Superior communication, writing, drafting, and negotiation skills
• Strong, creative problem–solving skills, ability to think nimbly
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative, supportive team member while also being proactive and independent

$120,000 – $140,000 a year In addition to the expected range listed, this role will be eligible for an annual bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and location.
