We are looking for a talented Senior Corporate Counsel to support our rapidly growing and evolving Alexa voice service, the brain behind our Amazon Echo family of devices and the many other products that enable access to Alexa. You'll be a leader in the legal team responsible for counseling the Alexa business on a broad range of commercial, licensing, technology, and regulatory matters and structuring, drafting and negotiating commercial transactions. You will work directly with the business, serving as lead counsel on strategic issues and deals, providing day–to–day input on business and strategy, advising on the launch of new products and features, resolving issues that arise in commercial relationships, and handling pre–litigation legal disputes and inquiries. You will develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business–centric ways, and you will build processes that address risk and allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly.

Key job responsibilities
Principal duties include providing ongoing legal counseling in a wide range of legal areas, including intellectual property, digital media, privacy, and regulatory compliance, and structuring, drafting and negotiating complicated technology, distribution, licensing, marketing and other commercial agreements. You will also manage a small legal team supporting these areas. Some travel will be required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– J.D. degree and membership in one state bar
– 10+ years of legal experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– A mix of corporate law firm and in–house experience
– Prior product counseling, privacy, and/or transactional experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $146,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $272,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job–related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
