About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Associate Legal Counsel with a strong background in contract law and data privacy to be our first in–house counsel, reporting to our CEO. As an Associate Legal Counsel, you will play a vital role in leading the legal contractual discussions with prospects, partners, and suppliers and contributing to the growth and success of the company. We are looking for someone who is comfortable being out of the "comfort zone," and who enjoys having a seat at the table to help the business make the right decisions, enabling revenue growth and the company's strategic goals.
Day to day responsibilities
Participate in the deal process from start to finish to ensure that Pulsora's best interests are represented and that contracts maintain an appropriate balance between reasonable risk and growth goals.
Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including but not limited to software licensing agreements, service agreements, partnership agreements, and vendor contracts.
Provide legal counsel to various departments within the company on contractual matters, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
Develop creative legal solutions to complex commercial negotiations and issues.
Conduct legal research and analysis on complex contract and data privacy issues, providing practical recommendations to internal stakeholders.
Collaborate with cross–functional teams to assess legal risks and develop strategies to minimize them, while still achieving business objectives.
Develop and implement contract templates, guidelines, and best practices to streamline contract management processes.
Advise on data privacy matters, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations, and assist in creating and implementing data protection strategies.
Stay updated on emerging legal developments in contract law and data privacy, and proactively provide guidance to the company to ensure compliance.
Work closely with external legal counsel when necessary and manage outside legal resources effectively.
Assist in other legal matters as needed, such as intellectual property, employment law, and general corporate issues.
About You
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active California bar membership in good standing
Experience working in contract law, preferably with a focus on SaaS
Strong understanding of data privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR and other international data protection laws
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem–solving skills
Detail–oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast–paced environment
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain legal concepts to non–legal stakeholders
Collaborative team player with the ability to work cross–functionally
High level of integrity and ethical standards
Familiarity with technology and software industry practices is a plus
Experience working in–house or at a law firm is preferred
