TransferRoom is a fast–growing scale–up that operates a B2B SaaS Marketplace for football clubs, agents, and professional football players. Our platform connects football clubs and agents from around the world, providing a secure and efficient way to manage player transfers.
About the Role
As our first legal hire you will lead and build the TransferRoom legal function from the ground up. You will work collaboratively with Finance, Sales, Customer Success, Product and HR and teams to deliver resilient, commercial, and practicable legal output and advice that will support our growth trajectory. This will be a stand–alone role at first so you'll need to be able to balance strategy with hands–on activity.
Responsibilities
- Full ownership and accountability for our Terms of Service and all commercial contracts for our businesses
- Lead on all client legal negotiations ensuring no deviations from our standard terms
- Be the point of contact internally and externally on all things legal for TransferRoom to include but not limited to; Intellectual Property, Employment Law, Overseas Hiring, and the changing landscape of Football Laws and Agent Regulation
- Be responsible for our data privacy, data protection and compliance engaging outside advice as needed
- Manage our legal budget
- Own TransferRoom's Risk Register; undertaking regular high–level legal risk analysis and providing advice and mitigation plans accordingly
- Oversee all supplier and partnership agreements delivering terms that always work best for and protect our business
- Set TransferRoom up for future success. Proactively investigate and set up smart legal structures to help us benefit as we scale. This includes keeping tabs on emerging football laws and Agent Regulations

Experience
- A qualified solicitor (in England and Wales) with 7 years PQE as a Corporate Commercial Lawyer or in a Mergers & Acquisitions team
- A history of drafting high–value legal documentation, which is clear, unambiguous, concise, and conclusive
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of commercial law and procedures
- You have a track record of a sensible and practical balance between legal and commercial risks
- An excellent decision–making track record
- Knowledge of data privacy and or football laws is a plus
