G2 Legal i currently working with a highly ranked law firm, assisting in the firm's hopes to find a part/ fully qualified Patent Attorney with a specialisation in Engineering, Physics or Computer Science. The firm in question prides itself on its collaborative environment and its impressive range of clients. Our client is an extremely successful, modern thinking firm with a striving Patent practice.

As a Patent Attorney, you will have the chance to work with some of the UK's market leading experts across a variety of different sectors including Mechanical Engineering, Physics, and computer science. With a wide range of different clients, ranging from international heavyweights to local High–Tech SMEs, you will see yourself getting stuck in right from the get–go.

Responsibilities:

  • Patent Research and Analysis – conduct thorough research to identify existing patents and prior art related to electronics inventions – analyse the patent landscape to assess the viability of new patent applications
  • Patent Drafting – prepare well–structured and comprehensive patent applications for electronics inventions. This involves describing the technical aspects of the invention and its novelty, while ensuring adherence to legal requirements
  • Patent Prosecution – interact with patent examiners on behalf of clients to address any queries or rejections related to the patent application. Amend patent claims and arguments as needed to overcome objections
  • Intellectual Property Strategy – advise clients on intellectual property (IP) strategies for their electronics inventions, including suggestions on patent filing, portfolio management, and potential risks and benefits
  • IP Portfolio Management – manage the IP portfolio for clients, including tracking deadlines for patent filings, maintenance, and renewals

Requirements:

  • Excellent academics
  • Part/ Fully qualified
  • Attention to Detail – meticulous attention to detail is essential in patent drafting and reviewing legal documents to avoid errors and ensure accuracy.
  • Problem–Solving Abilities – ability to strategise and find solutions to legal and technical challenges related to electronics patents
  • Client Management – effective client management skills, including the ability to understand clients' needs, provide valuable advice, and maintain professional relationships.

Part time employment is also an option.
