Legal Counsel, Commercial Contracts and IP

Salary: $150K–$220K ( Compensation for this position will be determined based on relevant factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, and location.)


We are a global video game organization based out of Seoul, South Korea. The name derives from theslogan "Keep the craftsmanship on," a rendition of our commitment to developing and publishing world–class games from our studios and publishing centers across the globe. You may know us as the developers and publishers of PUBG: Battlegrounds, The Callisto Protocol, Subnautica, Defense Derby, and more. Our stellar studios based across the globe include PUBG Studios, Striking Distance Studios, Bluehole Studio, Unknown Worlds and RisingWings.


Krafton is looking for an in–house Legal Counsel with 5–10 years of relevant experience. Principal duties will be supporting commercial transactions and managing IP. Additional duties may involve support for employment matters and other legal matters and operations.


  • Draft, negotiate, advise, and review a broad range of commercial agreements including: services, SOWs, marketing, publishing, development, licensing, merchandising, technology, software licenses, employment, and data privacy–related agreements, etc.
  • Build and maintain contract templates and playbooks.
  • Build strong relationships and work cross–functionally with internal stakeholders globally.
  • Collaborate with other members of the IP team to identify, register, protect, and enforce the Company's IP, including copyrights, trademarks and domain names.
  • Conduct IP clearance on Company products and services, including trademark, copyright, open source, and domain name clearance.
  • Other responsibilities:
    • Supporting legal operations for Krafton and its affiliates.
    • Review changes to applicable laws and regulations and provide advice on compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
    • Provide training to business teams on the above.
    • Review and update various IP guidelines.
    • Engage and coordinate with outside counsel.
    • Occasional travel, including international, may be required.
    • Other relevant legal duties as assigned.


  • 5–10 years of relevant legal experience in top–tier law firm and/or in house legal department.
  • At least 3 years' experience in commercial transactions and related legal areas.
  • Able to handle individual commercial transaction matters without direct supervision.
  • Experience with managing, clearing, protecting and enforcing IP.
  • Flexibility to work with different time zones, different work cultures and languages (through translators).
  • Team player capable of working both independently and with others.
  • Roll up your sleeves attitude handling all aspects of matters with or without support from others.
  • Sense of humor.
  • Law degree required; must be licensed to practice law in the United States.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
  • Korean language skills a plus.
  • Experience with legal technology is a plus.
  • Experience with video game, entertainment, or software technology a plus.


Candidates can be based in either the greater Los Angeles or SF–Bay Area. We are also open to considering remote work arrangements for suitably qualified applicants.
