Job Description
Whitman Breed Abbott & Morgan LLC is seeking a full-time experienced Trademark Paralegal with experience in corporate law to join its corporate and intellectual property practice.
Position Details and Requirements
The day-to-day requirements of the position include:
- Preparing and filing trademark applications, statements of use, extensions of time, amendments, Section 8 &15 declarations, and other filings with the USPTO; Preparing similar filings with the World Intellectual Property Organization; Monitoring deadlines associated with the U.S. and international dockets; Maintaining contacts in foreign jurisdictions and coordinating with foreign counsel; Preparing and updating client trademark reports; and Attend to Trademark Trial and Appeal Board filings.
In addition to possessing the ability to independently engage in the above matters, an ideal candidate will also have:
- Experience in reviewing and analyzing trademark watch notices and conducting trademark clearance searches; Proficiency (or familiarity) with Altlegal and CompuMark software; Proficiency with U.S. and international trademark law; Ability to self-manage and work independently; Strong working knowledge to utilize various online electronic filings at the USPTO; Strong organizational and administrative skills; At least five (5) years of trademark experience; Bachelor’s degree or equivalent specialized training (i.e., paralegal studies or certificate from an ABA recognized program); Familiarity with U.S. Copyright Law and copyright application filings; Experience in organizing, preparing and filing Articles of Incorporation/Organization, state qualifications, organizational and related documents; Experience in preparing documents for transactions such as closing binders, UCC searches and filings, filing annual reports in states where corporations are incorporated and/or qualified to do business and maintaining capitalization tables; and Experience in organizing documents and closing books in connection with corporate transactions such as acquisitions and mergers.
