Legal Counsel
Salary from GBP40,229 to GBP48,456 pa inclusive with potential to progress to GBP52,095 pa inclusive of London allowance
The LSE Legal Team which is part of the Secretary's Division is responsible for providing advice on a wide range of legal matters to a variety of stakeholders across the School. The Team is now looking to recruit a Solicitor into the Legal Counsel role.
The Candidate would be required to provide advice, guidance and support on a wide range of legal matters to various stakeholders across the School including but not limited to departments, divisions and senior management. The legal matters on which the candidate would be expected to provide advice, guidance and support include but are not limited to contracts, intellectual property matters, brand protection, equality and diversity, harassment, student complaints and disciplinary matters, compliance with legislation, risk mitigation, information management, libel and dispute resolution. To differing degrees, the post involves contact with staff, students, members of the public and external lawyers.
Candidates should have:
- Knowledge and experience of working on a variety of contractual matters and other legal agreements.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to plan, manage and deliver projects, such as drafting or revising policies and procedures, guidance and template documents.
- Able to work independently, use initiative, have excellent attention to detail, understand complex information and propose practical solutions to resolve difficult and diverse questions.
