The Position

Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is seeking an experienced Advertising, Marketing, and Promotions Partner to help grow our Advertising and Brand Protection team. The ideal candidate will have significant expertise in traditional and new media advertising, marketing, and promotions matters and embrace the opportunity to help grow our nationally recognized practice.

The Location 

We have offices in Wisconsin (Milwaukee, Madison, Manitowoc, Waukesha); Illinois (Chicago); Utah (Cottonwood Heights, Salt Lake City); Colorado (Denver, Broomfield); Texas (Austin); and North Carolina (Charlotte, Raleigh, Wilmington); and Washington D.C. Our contemporary offices spaces are ideal for concentration and collaboration supporting our culture of working together to make great things happen for our clients. This position is located in any of our office locations.

Job Requirements

Knowledge Base & Education:

• J.D. from an ABA accredited law school
• Excellent academic credentials
• A minimum of 10 years of specialized experience in advertising law, with a proven record of successful client representation
  Provide expert legal counsel on advertising, marketing, and promotions matters in traditional and new media, including ad campaigns, promotions, sponsorships, branded entertainment, activations, endorsements, and user-generated content
• Protect clients’ business interests and brand elements in all aspects of a campaign’s life cycle, from concept, to clearance, implementation, activation, and data collection and use
• Counsel clients to avoid and respond to challenges from government agencies, competitors, and consumers for alleged false advertising and unfair sales/marketing practices
• Lead litigation of false advertising and unfair competition claims in court and before NAD
• Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, actively participating in business development initiatives to further expand our advertising, marketing and promotions practice

• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of internal and external clients, attorneys, and staff
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong negotiation and advocacy skills, with experience in litigation false advertising and unfair competition claims
  Ability to manage confidential information and sensitive situations with tact and discretion

• Ability and confidence to identify and analyze issues, make decisions, and initiate actions/solutions
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment
  Agility to respond to unexpected challenges, including proactively developing innovative solutions to complex problems while maintaining a professional demeanor

• Ability to maintain composure and demonstrate good judgment
• Valid authorization to work in the U.S

For Colorado applicants only (as required by the Colorado Equal Pay Act): The starting salary for Contract Partner positions in our Denver office is $300,000. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area and the portable book of business for partner candidates. Contract Partners are eligible to participate in Michael Best’s Contract Partner bonus program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions. This position is considered full-time and is therefore eligible to participate in employer-sponsored benefits, including: medical, dental, vision, as well as elective/voluntary life, disability, and accident coverage. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in the firm's 401k plan.
