This position is part of the Legal/ Intellectual Property/Patent Law department working remotely within Chicago, Illinois, Iowa City/Coralville, Iowa, Madison, Wisconsin or Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina and will be fully remote. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Maintain a solid understanding of IDT's business units and in particular the Gene Writing/Editing Unit, technology and product goals, and challenges in order to establish and implement intellectual property strategies that facilitate those goals and minimize those challenges.
Develop and curate a strategic, global intellectual property portfolio (including patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets) in support of IDT's and Danaher's business strategy.
Perform due diligence and freedom to operate analysis for new technologies and products.
Manage outside counsel and other resource utilization for value and efficiency.
Domestic travel will be required, and potentially international travel.
The essential requirements of the job include:
A bachelor's degree in biological science, chemistry, pharmacy or other field relevant to genomic medicine.
Juris Doctor with excellent academic credentials from an accredited law school
Active bar membership in good standing in at least one US jurisdiction.
Admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
10 years of experience specializing in intellectual property in–house at a company or a combination of law firm and in–house experience.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
An advanced degree in a biological science, chemistry, pharmacy or other field relevant to genomic medicine
7–10 years of working experience with nuances of international patent law (via local counsel) preferred.
Familiarity with and experience with CRISPR technologies and related intellectual property.

The salary range for this role is $190,000 to $200,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
