Responsible for all aspects of patent practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office including:

Evaluation of ideas for patent protection
Patentability investigations
Infringement analysis
Patent infringement litigation
Design–around analysis
Preparation of applications, post–filing prosecution, and related amendments and appeals
Assessing engineering literature and patent application documents
Critiquing and providing insightful opinions on engineering data relating to inventions
Conducting comprehensive searches for engineering articles, patents, and patent application documents relevant to the subject of an invention
Performing in–depth analysis comparing an invention with existing discoveries or inventions
Preparation and negotiation of licensing agreements
Identifying essential elements, features, or components of an invention
Drafting responses to rejection of a patent application for an invention from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and other worldwide Patent Offices
Collaborating with colleagues on various projects and working with clients in prosecuting patent applications.

Must have 1 year of experience working in the engineering/industrial area or 1 year of experience in engineering/physics research. Lab research in an engineering area may substitute for other work experience. Must have 1 year experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the semiconductor and software–based technology areas. Must be qualified to sit for a state law licensing bar exam. Must be eligible to sit for the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office patent bar exam or have already passed the USPTO patent bar exam.

A Juris Doctor and a bachelor's degree in engineering or physics
