Electrical Patent Attorney Job Summary
Our esteemed client, an AmLaw200 firm, is seeking a bright and energetic electrical patent attorney to assist in transactional work as well as patent prosecution.
Electrical Patent Attorney Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough analysis and review of electrical patent applications, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and patent office guidelines
- Draft high–quality patent applications for electrical inventions, including detailed technical descriptions and legal claims
- Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and clients to understand the technical aspects of inventions and provide strategic legal advice
- Conduct patentability searches and analyze prior art to assess the novelty and patentability of inventions
- Prepare responses to office actions from patent examiners, including drafting arguments and amendments to overcome rejections
- Manage and maintain a portfolio of patent applications, including tracking deadlines, communicating with clients, and filing necessary documentation
- Assist in due diligence investigations and provide legal opinions related to intellectual property matters in transactional work, such as mergers, acquisitions, and licensing agreements
- Stay updated on changes in patent law and regulations related to electrical inventions, and advise clients accordingly
- Participate in meetings, hearings, and negotiations with clients, patent examiners, and opposing counsel as needed
- Work collaboratively with other attorneys and support staff within the firm to provide comprehensive legal services to clients
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive client information and matters
- Support business development efforts by participating in client pitches, presentations, and networking events to attract new clients and maintain existing relationships
Electrical Patent Attorney Position Requirements
- 4+ years of experience Doctor of Jurisprudence from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials (top 25% required)
- Admittance to the Texas bar as well as the USPTO
