Alprin Law Offices, P.C. (“ALO”) is a vibrant D.C.-based virtual boutique trademark practice, established in 2005. For this full-time or part-time position, ALO seeks an experienced trademark attorney well-versed in all aspects of trademark prosecution, clearance searches, TTAB litigation, and settlement negotiations, including drafting of coexistence agreements.  Candidates should excel at communicating with clients, and going above and beyond for them.

The following professional principles are embraced by the firm:  a client’s questions should always be answered on the same business day, if possible; work that is ready to be filed should be filed on the same day that it is received, if possible; attorneys should proactively communicate with clients as to the status of a case when a client is waiting for work to arrive; the nature of the business sometimes involves working late nights and on the weekend; a friendly and professional disposition is necessary to maintain a harmonious and efficient working environment; attorneys should work hard and take pride in their work. 


•    4 years of experience or more
•    Excellent writing and communication skills
•    Knowledge of Japanese business culture and Japanese language a plus
•    Willingness to take a mini-exam as part of this application process
•    Willingness to be trained in practicing trademark law in the ALO way, with a high level of dedication to the client and significant attention to detail

  o    Copy of one trademark search opinion letter exemplifying the candidate’s writing skills and depth of knowledge (candidate may redact; will be held in the strictest of confidence)
  o    [Do not send copy of document] Links to five USPTO serial numbers or registration numbers of prosecution matters that are/were handled by the candidate, that exhibit trademark acumen; 
  o    [Do not send copy of document] Link to one argument against a likelihood of confusion refusal OR against a descriptiveness refusal exemplifying the candidate’s writing skills and depth of knowledge;
  o    [Do not send copy of document] Links to three motions filed with the TTAB in an appeal or an inter partes proceeding exemplifying the candidate’s writing skills and TTAB-related depth of knowledge;
  o    Copy of one coexistence agreement that was negotiated and/or crafted by candidate (may redact; will be held in the strictest of confidence).  Link to an agreement submitted to the USPTO in a response preferred, if available.
