Job Details

We are looking to expand our patent prosecution practice and are seeking an attorney or group of attorneys interested in growing their practice with us. We are seeking candidates at a principal level who can work with existing clients and bring a portable book of business to our firm. Experience in mechanical, electrical, and food technology areas is preferred. This role involves extensive interaction with in–house attorneys, investors, and firm attorneys, representing clients in patent enforcement and defense against claims of patent infringement.

Our patent attorneys actively represent clients in contemporary and traditional proceedings at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. We collaborate with plaintiffs to develop strategies to stop infringement and obtain damages, and work with defendants to narrow claims construction and undermine validity. Our experience includes inter partes review, post–grant review, covered business methods, and ex parte reexamination.

At our firm, you will work with attorneys and staff dedicated to excellent client service. You'll find resources and mentors to support your professional growth in a collaborative and collegial culture. Opportunities to work on public service matters are encouraged.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are core values integrated into our culture and business practices. Our Opportunity & Progress Council (OPC) guides actions in these areas, breaking down barriers and creating a shared environment for everyone to excel.

Job Requirements:
The successful candidate(s) will have:

A portable book of business
7 to 10 years of experience in IP and patent prosecution
Excellent research, writing, analytical, and communication skills
Client–oriented approach
Ability to work collaboratively
Interest in community engagement
License to practice law in Washington, Oregon, New York, or Washington, D.C.
Candidates based in Seattle, Spokane, Portland, New York, and Washington D.C. areas will be considered.
