The Silicon Valley office of Arnold & Porter is seeking a mid–level patent prosecution associate for the Chambers–ranked Intellectual Property Practice Group. Qualified candidates for this position must have a minimum of three years of extensive work experience in the biology, biotechnology, small molecules, or biologics patent prosecution field and a Ph.D. degree in biology, biotechnology, immunology, chemistry, or equivalent technical experience. Candidates must have experience in both writing original patent applications and prosecuting pending applications. Candidates preferably should also have experience in working with and supervising patent agents or law clerks and professional staffs in preparing and filing documents at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Familiarity with Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) practice is preferred. All applicants should have excellent academic credentials and references. Candidates must currently be licensed to practice law, or currently eligible to become licensed to practice, in California. In addition, Candidates preferably are members of Patent Bar with good standing. Candidates not currently members of the Patent Bar must be eligible to sit for the Patent Bar Exam.
