Erise IP, a mid–sized law firm, is on a mission to find an experienced and professional Senior Trial Paralegal to join our growing, collaborative team. This position is located in Overland Park, Kansas and is an in–person position given the nature of the work to be accomplished.

If you have previous mid–sized or large firm experience, this position might be the breath of fresh air you're looking for in your next career move. In addition to being well organized and computer savvy, our ideal candidate will have Federal district court trial experience, a high level of skill and detail–orientation responsible for organizing documents, conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and providing overall support to ensure efficient case management all the way to trial.

Don't worry if you don't have any IP experience! We are looking for someone with trial experience–we will teach you the IP side of things.

About the Position

This position has overall responsibility to one of our most critical functions – bringing our cases to trial. We're looking for an individual with a highly organized and service–oriented mind to assume the following responsibilities:

Assisting attorneys in preparing legal documents for court filings, including pleadings, motions, depositions and briefs.
Organizing and managing case files, including electronic and physical documents, ensuring all materials are easily accessible and up to date.
Conducting legal research using various resources, such as online databases and legal libraries, to support attorneys in case preparation.
Assist in the preparation of discovery requests and responses, including drafting interrogatories, requests for production, and document reviews.
Coordinating with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in the litigation process to schedule meetings, depositions, and court appearances.
Preparing trial exhibits and other visual aids for use during hearings and trials.
Assisting attorneys during trial proceedings, including managing exhibits, taking notes, and providing overall trial support
Maintaining communication with clients regarding case updates and developments, under the supervision of attorneys.
Assisting with administrative tasks, such as billing, timekeeping, and calendar management, to ensure efficient workflow within the trial team.
Staying current with changes in relevant laws, regulations, and court rules to ensure compliance and effective case management.
Other duties and projects as assigned.

The Skills You'll Need

A minimum of a 10+ years of courtroom trial paralegal experience. Less experience but with significant courtroom trial experience will be considered.
Federal district court trial experience is preferred, but we will definitely consider candidates with state trial court experience as well.
Ability to travel for trials, which usually last for 1–2 weeks, three or four times per year since our trials are often out of State.
Highly effective organizational skills, project management and planning abilities, including demonstrated ability to multi–task, prioritize, analyze, organize, attend to detail, follow through, delegate, and negotiate.
Very strong computer and technology proficiency, insight and accuracy.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Strong collaborative, and consensus–building ability to work closely and successfully with attorneys, managers, staff, and often more importantly, our clients.
Able to quickly develop rapport and gain respect and trust across the firm, coordinating the use of department resources and involving staff and management to complete simultaneous projects timely, with minimal supervision and maximum flexibility.
And a level of professionalism, integrity and honesty in all aspects of the role. It wouldn't hurt to have a sense of humor too.
