Trademarks-Corporate Counsel-Senior Director

Our client, a CPG company that is a "TOP PLACE to WORK" has retained First Chair Attorney Search LLC on an exclusive basis to assist with their search for a Corporate Counsel-Trademarks-Senior Director to lead and manage a team.  This is a high impact role, reporting to the General Counsel.

Trademark Attorney-Corporate Counsel-Senior Director will lead and manage its Trademark Group.  The Trademark Group manages a large domestic and international trademark portfolio and works closely with business and marketing personnel.  The legal team is integrated into the business units and there is significant opportunity to work proactively counseling clients. 

The Corporate Counsel –Senior Director- Trademarks will manage a global team of eight in all aspects of trademark prosecution, conflicts, and anti-counterfeiting matters.  Members of the team that will be included include Manager of  Brand Protection and Senior Paralegals.  This role has an emphasis on global trademark matters and some members of the Trademark team are located internationally.  Below is a list of responsibilities-

• Legal counsel responsible for the maintenance of domestic and foreign trademarks, trademark searching and clearance, and management of an international team and outside partners for all trademark conflict matters, including cease and desist letters, Oppositions, Cancellations, litigation and counterfeit seizures.
• Actively develop and implement best practices for the management of a global trademark and anti-counterfeiting practice.
• Provide support and counsel marketing personnel on trademark and copyright issues.
• Provide department support for a wide range of trademark-related agreements, including 3PM, supply, marketing and license agreements.
• Perform trademark and copyright due diligence and counseling in support of business transactions and M&A activities.
• Advise senior management on a broad range of key trademark strategy and litigation matters.

The company is seeking someone with a minimum of TEN years of IN HOUSE experience, consumer product company experience is ideal.  An attorney who has a background in patent law would be considered so the attorney may work cross functionally.
