Senior Commercial Lawyer
4 Month Contract
Location: Home / Wakefield (Hybrid)
Rate: 550 per day (Inside IR35)

We are looking to recruit a Senior Commercial Lawyer on an initial 4 month contract for a leading public sector organisation. In this crucial role, you will provide expert legal advice on high–value commercial projects, contract negotiation, and public procurement processes.

This is an initial 4 month contract with hybrid working based out of my client's site in Wakefield (approx. 2 days a week on site).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Ethics: Lead by example, upholding my client's Code of Ethics and ensuring that their values are clearly understood and integrated into decision–making and actions across the organisation. Influence and reinforce these values through all interactions and processes.
  • Commercial Projects: Provide legal advice and direction on high–value commercial projects. Negotiate and draft complex legal contracts with national and international corporations, focusing on issues such as indemnities, copyright, and intellectual property to protect the interests of the Force.
  • Contract Negotiation: Draft and negotiate a variety of contracts, including media agreements, special service agreements and collaboration agreements, ensuring favourable outcomes for the my client.
  • Public Procurement & Compliance: Offer expert legal advice on public procurement rules and processes, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks associated with procurement activities.
  • Dispute Resolution: Represent my client in contractual disputes and procurement challenges, and manage legal representation in commercial litigation to secure the best financial outcomes.
  • Property Records Management: Maintain the property records system and assets register for my client's land and buildings, ensuring accurate recording and safe custody of property title deeds.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Essential:
    • Qualified Legal Executive or Solicitor with substantial post–qualification experience in commercial law.
    • Strong experience in contract negotiation and drafting, with expertise in handling complex legal matters such as indemnities and intellectual property.
  • Desirable:
    • Experience with public procurement processes.
    • Experience in public sector work is a plus, though not essential.
