Trademark/Advertising Law Paralegal
Job Description
A prestigious midtown law firm seeks a professional, proactive individual with experience in a law firm setting.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Assist with managing and maintaining trademark docketing system; Prepare and file U.S. trademark applications, Statements of Use, Extensions of Time, Oppositions, Cancellations, Renewals, Section 8 & 15 Affidavits, Assignments, Office Action Responses and related documents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; Correspond with foreign counsel with respect to local trademark matters; Create and maintain electronic files; Prepare trademark reporting communications for clients; Perform IP due diligence for corporate transactions; Conduct trademark clearance searches online and PTO website; Assist with preparing client billing for trademark matters; File copyright applications and office action responses; maintain copyright files; and communicate with the copyright office when necessary Assist in registration and bonding of sweepstakes and contest Assist in overall file maintenance and preparation for court hearings and regulatory matters, Assist department attorneys with other matters as needed
Abilities and Skills needed:
Ideal candidate would have paralegal experience with international and domestic trademark portfolio management experience under the supervision of a trademark attorney in either a law firm or in-house setting
Bachelor’s Degree
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and CPI
Basic knowledge of patent office procedures (looking up patents in USPTO database and preparing and filing patent assignments) - a plus
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and track extensive detail
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other paralegals and personnel
Ability to work under stress
Flexibility with overtime
Willingness to work with and assist other practice groups and staff members in accomplishing work assignments
Pleasant and cooperative attitude
Ability to handle confidential information sensitively and discreetly
