Overview:
The Competitive Intelligence Research Analyst will provide competitive intelligence research and analysis for requests emanating from the Business Development, Practice Development, Client Development and Lateral Partner Recruiting teams including, but not limited to, producing actionable intelligence profiles of individuals, companies, industries, markets, technologies, and competitors using a comprehensive variety of online tools and resources. The Competitive Intelligence Research Analyst will be expected to have knowledge and the ability to stay abreast of industry trends, monitor financial data, and articulate opportunities for the firm. The Competitive Intelligence Research Analyst has a direct reporting line to the Senior Manager of Library Operations and Research.

Responsibilities:
Conduct competitive intelligence research on targeted prospect companies, individuals, and industries

Provide analysis of research findings and synthesize key points in concise and compelling competitive intelligence work product deliverables

Provide proactive monitoring and alerting using a variety of sources to identify potential prospects and trends in various industries and customer segments of interest to the firm

Work closely with all areas of Business Development, Practice Development, Client Development and Lateral Partner Recruiting teams firm–wide

Provide regular status reports on competitive intelligence research activities and accomplishments to Senior Manager of Library Operations and Research

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES:

Strong research skills, including legal and business subject areas

Ability to distill complex information into key concepts and actionable intelligence

Knowledge and experience conducting research using external tools, such as PitchBook, Preqin, Capital IQ, Bloomberg Law, Lexis and Westlaw

Excellent interpersonal, presentation and competitive intelligence communication skills

Ability to research and organize data in a concise manner

Commitment to providing high–quality competitive intelligence research service to a large group of demanding users in a fast–paced business environment

Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple and tight deadlines

Ability to work effectively in a culturally and educationally diverse environment

Qualifications:
MLS desired

Minimum of two years of research experience in a law firm or corporate environment

Proven ability to organize and manage a diverse range of competitive intelligence projects and prioritize multiple tasks

Online research skills and knowledge of online business and legal databases

Compensation and Total Rewards Package:
Ropes & Gray is proud to offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package to our business support team members. The anticipated pay range for this role is $85,500 – $128,000, which represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job–related, non–discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.

Working Conditions:
This position requires hybrid on–site presence as an essential function of the role. Consistent and predictable on–site presence is required for ongoing business continuity, professional development and effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
