We are looking for an outstanding technology transactions lawyer to support MongoDB's global partner organization responsible for building and growing MongoDB's partner programs. As Legal Counsel, Partners, you will be the primary legal contact for the Partner team, supporting on a wide range of issues related to the structure and execution of MongoDB's partner programs. The role requires someone who thrives in a fast–paced environment, works independently and efficiently, and gets excited by lofty goals and challenges.

This is a full–time position based in Toronto or Austin, but we will consider other locations for the right candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Provide proactive strategic legal and business advice to MongoDB's Partner organization to support expansion of global partner channel and execution of partner programs, including advising on licensing, intellectual property, antitrust, and commercial issues.
  • Draft and negotiate legal agreements with MongoDB partners, including reseller, distributor, technology integration, OEM, marketplace, professional services, co–sell and other complex partner agreements.
  • Continuously improve and update template partner agreements and create and maintain negotiation playbooks.
  • Develop and implement training program for Partner team related to negotiation best practices, applicable legal and compliance requirements, and other relevant legal issues.
  • Actively collaborate with other business teams, including sales, product, technical services, professional services, and finance, to launch new partner programs, draft and refine program guidelines and corresponding legal terms, and implement scalable processes to meet Partner team's business objectives.
  • Partner closely with product and engineering on new product integrations and with partner–focused technical services team on support to and with our partners.
  • Tackle other interesting legal projects and assist team members on others as needed.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of technology transactions experience, including in–house experience at a SaaS company.
  • Proven record of success at a top law firm and in–house at a B2B SaaS company.
  • Experience supporting business teams responsible for global partnerships and negotiating transactions for partner programs, including reseller, distributor, technology integration, OEM, marketplace, professional services, and other complex partner agreements.
  • Deep knowledge of enterprise software, cloud services, strategic partnerships, licensing, intellectual property, antitrust, contract, data privacy and security issues.
  • Excellent business judgment and an ability to balance risk while promptly identifying practical, business–oriented solutions based on imperfect information.
  • Strong people and collaboration skills with the ability to influence a diverse group of stakeholders to accomplish a common goal to deliver high–impact projects that scale the business.
  • Motivated, organized, and flexible self–starter who thrives working independently and as part of a team in a fast–paced environment with shifting and competing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong leadership presence and the ability to clearly and concisely explain complex legal concepts to business people.
  • Curious and enthusiastic about technology and a commitment to keep learning and growing.
  • Licensed in an appropriate jurisdiction.
