Trademark Paralegal
This position will focus on compliance with, and interpretation of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association’s (“Company”) Brand Regulations and license agreements. In addition, this position will also assist with enforcing the intellectual property rights owned by the Company by investigating, negotiating, and resolving disputes. Further, this position will perform trademark clearance searches, draft search reports, draft investigative reports, and assist with maintenance of the Company’s international and domestic trademark portfolios.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Assisting Brand Counsel in reviewing Company and Licensee materials for proper Brand usage in accordance with the Brand Regulations, License Agreements, and sound trademark practices, including conducting the annual Brand Use Review of Licensee materials, supporting operation of the Brand Use Portal, and working directly with Licensees in identifying and resolving compliance matters.
- Assisting with misuse of the Brands and enforcement of the Brand Regulations including: (1) investigating potential enforcement matters, drafting settlement agreements, and communicating with Licensees and third parties concerning enforcement matters; and (2) assisting with online enforcement and domain portfolio management.
- Assisting the Brand legal team with special projects as needed, including, but not limited to developing and presenting trainings related to intellectual property prosecution and enforcement.

Experience
- A minimum of three - five years’ experience as a trademark, corporate or litigation paralegal, or equivalent work experience
- Experience conducting due diligence in a law firm or corporate environment Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access including data entry and retrieval and online searches and investigations (e.g. Nexus, D&B)

At the time of posting, the estimated base salary range for this role is: $62,976.00 - $88,320.00
A candidate’s position within the hiring range may be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for annual bonus incentive pay.
