What we're looking for
Join our dynamic team at Lloyd's Register as a Legal Counsel. In this pivotal role, you will provide legal advice and guidance to the subsidiary and affiliate corporations of Lloyd's Register based in the Americas Area, with particular attention to Central and South America. You will engender a culture of partnership between the legal team and the businesses, whereby the legal team is commercially focused and regarded as a trusted adviser, providing pragmatic and commercially astute solutions to enable business plans and develop a culture where risk is understood and balanced with reward rather than avoided.

Responsibilities
- Providing responsive, pragmatic, commercially astute legal advice and assistance to members of the management team, and their reports cascading down.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts in the Americas Area, with particular emphasis in Central and South America.
- Providing advice on legal issues, especially those related to contracts and labour and employment law.
- Advising on and implementing risk–management policy.
- Supporting and enforcing corporate policies.
- Assisting internal clients in avoiding undesirable legal consequences.
What you bring
- A legal degree from a school accredited by the National Commission of Legal Education of the OAB Federal Council and passage of the Brazilian Bar Examination.
- Demonstrated commercial law experience (5+ years) ideally in a corporate law department.
- Good working knowledge of contract, employment, competition, intellectual property, and general commercial law.
- A can–do mindset and customer–focused, commercially astute, collaborative approach to developing partnerships between the legal team and the businesses.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to work in a team environment and under pressure.
- Self–motivated and self–disciplined.
- Superior analytical and problem–solving skills.
- Fluency in Portuguese, Spanish, and English (desirable).
