Job Description:

What are we looking for?
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in a US jurisdiction. If not a member of the State bar in which the position is located, then the successful attorney must take steps to gain admission by complying with the rules for that state's in–house corporate counsel
  • Licensed to practice before the USPTO
  • 5+ years of experience as a practicing IP attorney

What will be your key responsibilities?
  • Provide legal counsel and strategic guidance on intellectual property, technology transfer, and transactional matters on behalf of Mars Corporate Science & Technology and other Mars Law Departments.
  • Perform IP related activities, including conducting preliminary patent searches, identifying patentable subject matter, drafting and prosecuting patent applications (in house or with outside counsel), performing freedom to operate analysis, and leading IP transactions.
  • Draft and negotiate IP–related agreements, including confidentiality, consulting, research, joint development, and licensing agreements.
  • Conduct IP diligence and provide legal support for research and commercialization collaborations and partnerships.
