Position Details:
The Senior Corporate Counsel, Intellectual Property (IP) & Privacy, serves as an important resource on intellectual property and privacy law matters. We are looking for a Senior Corporate Counsel to join our legal team who embraces a curiosity–driven, business–enabling mindset to provide strategic and pragmatic legal counsel to the organization. Must have the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization. You will report to the Assistant General Counsel, IP & Technology.

You Will:

  • Provide practical and strategic advice and counsel on IP matters, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
  • Manage Grainger's IP portfolio, including overseeing trademark registrations and responding to IP infringement matters.
  • Partner with the Contracts Center of Excellence to draft, review, and negotiate IP–related agreements and data privacy and protection terms for a variety of transactional agreements.
  • Advise on privacy and data protection matters, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments and oversee data breach incident response activities.
  • Stay current on emerging IP and privacy laws, regulations, and industry trends, providing guidance on potential impacts to the Grainger business.
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the Grainger Corporate Affairs team.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying and implementing new processes, document templates, playbooks, and training materials.
  • Embrace curiosity with a continual learning mindset.

You Have:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • 7+ years of experience post J.D. in patent prosecurtion in a corporate role or law firm.
  • Admitted to USPTO
  • Experience and skill in project management.
