Trademark Paralegal
DTL Ltd., a growing boutique Intellectual Property law firm, is seeking a full-time Trademark Paralegal with 3-5 years of experience. The firm is looking to fill the position as soon as possible with a candidate who can hit the ground running.
The Trademark Paralegal will assist lawyers with domestic and international trademark clearance, trademark and copyright registration, trademark maintenance, renewal and enforcement.
The ideal candidate will have exceptional written and oral communication skills, proficient in computer programs routine to the role, namely Microsoft Office software programs, Adobe and online research databases. The candidate will also have excellent work ethic and organization skills with the ability to effectively prioritize workload and handle a high volume of deadline-intensive work.
Tasks will include but are not limited to:
- Preparing U.S. trademark applications, affidavits, and renewal applications with USPTO;
- Preparing assignments and file Chain of Title documentation with the relevant Trademark Office
- Communicates and instructs foreign counsel on clearance, trademark filings, office actions, renewals and other prosecution and conflict matters;
- Manage domestic and international trademark portfolios;
- Preparing client billing;
- Updating docket database (Patrix or similar) for trademarks, copyrights and domain name/general matters;
- Generating and editing status reports;
- Communicate with attorneys, paralegal and clients regarding upcoming deadlines;
- Handle special projects as assigned;
- General office administrative tasks
Requirements:
- 3-5 years experience with U.S. and foreign trademark prosecution;
- Strong consideration will be given to individuals fluent in Spanish;
- Familiarity with worldwide trademark laws and procedures, including Madrid Protocol;
- Familiarity with TEAS electronic filing procedures;
- Ability to support multiple attorneys in fast paced and dynamic environment;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Proficiency of Word, Excel, and Outlook;
- Familiarity with docketing system Patrix or similar;
- Strong organizational skills, ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects and manage deadlines;
- Attention to detail;
- Ability to work independently;
- Ability to change and adapt to current and future responsibilities and circumstances
