Northrop Grumman seeks a lead in–house lawyer to act as the Director and Division Counsel for the Strategic Space Systems Division, headquartered in Redondo Beach, California at the historic "Space Park" campus.

Responsibilities include counseling on matters associated with the pursuit, capture, and execution of US Government and commercial contracts, as well as coordinating with various legal specialists inside the company to support litigation, internal investigations, intellectual property, export, employment and other matters impacting the business.

Succeeding in this position requires superb problem–solving skills, sound judgement and discretion, effective communication and collaboration, ownership of issues and results, and the highest standards of integrity and ethics. The position reports to the Vice President, Associate General Counsel for Northrop Grumman Space Systems and will involve supervision of one or more supporting counsel, paralegals, and/or administrative assistants.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • JD from an accredited US law school.

  • Member of the state bar in the applicable location, or capable of practicing as an in–house counsel in accordance with applicable state bar rules.

  • 10 or more years of relevant experience at one or more law firms, US Government agencies and/or in–house legal departments.

  • Strong academic credentials.

  • Ability to obtain a DOD Secret level security clearance as a condition of continued employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with contracting and subcontracting in support of US Government programs and/or with complex commercial transactions.

  • Excellence in analyzing legal concepts and ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences.

  • Ability to provide accurate, timely and pragmatic advice.

  • Ability to promote and contribute to a collaborative team environment that encourages and supports inclusion.

  • Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to balance multiple competing priorities.

  • Ability to direct the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems applying advanced analytical thought and judgment.

  • Proven success leading teams and driving for results in a matrixed organization.

  • An active US security clearance at the Secret level or higher is preferred.

Salary Range: $251,500 – $361,600

Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
