TRADEMARK ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY
Looking for a Great Opportunity to practice Trademark Law with a Great Team? Seeking stellar quality junior trademark associate attorney for a dynamic trademark boutique law firm in Chicago, Illinois with one to three years' experience with the following qualifications:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Handle all aspects of U.S. trademark prosecution and maintenance including: preparing and filing trademark applications; preparing responses to a variety of PTO office actions; preparing and filing statements of use/extensions of time, renewals and declarations of use, drafting client correspondence, recording assignments and other documents
- Correspond with foreign counsel on trademark filings, office actions, renewals and other prosecution and conflict matters
- Monitor and assist with enforcement activities related to protected brands including: deadlines and action item management, investigation of possible trademark infringement, and drafting of documents for filing with the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board
- Perform legal and internet research projects and other special assigned projects
- Conducting trademark searches and drafting likelihood of confusion assessments
- Reviewing trademark literature and advertising materials for proper use/content
- Managing the trademark docket and reconciling client deadlines
- Reviewing and approving foreign associate invoices and supporting client billing
- Maintaining regular client reports and informational charts
The ideal candidate will have:
- One to three years’ of strong U.S. trademark prosecution, hands-on trademark filing and clearance experience required
- Illinois bar admission required or the eligibility to become admitted in Illinois promptly
- Committed to living in the Chicago area

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to learn new computer applications quickly and proficiently
- Strict attention to detail and ability to manage large amounts of data with no errors
- Solid knowledge of all USPTO systems and guidelines
- Advanced proficiency in USPTO TEAS, TSDR, TMSEARCH, ESTTA and other computer systems
- Newly admitted attorneys considered only with IP clinic and/or other trademark-related experience, prior law clerk/paralegal experience, etc.
- Litigation experience in any discipline a plus
- Highly developed skills in time and task management
- Highly developed attention to detail and excellence in all firm’s work product and client service
- Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office computerized business applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook) for the creation and editing of complex documents, spreadsheets, and electronic mail
- Foreign filing and prosecution experience strongly preferred
- Exemplary legal writing and research skills
- Some adversarial and TTAB skills desired
- Domain name/UDRP experience desirable
- Copyright/Advertising review experience useful
- Superior computer, technical, and organizational skills
- Ability to balance a high volume, deadline-driven workload
- Capable of self-motivation and prioritizing own workload
- Possesses “go the extra mile” client service skills
- Dedicated to training and self-development
- Looking primarily for a full-time person, will consider a part-time schedule only for the right person with strong experience
This position is currently a hybrid remote/in-office work schedule but will primarily be an in-office downtown Chicago position located in the River North area. This is a position that can grow and adapt to the abilities, interests and proven level of performance of the individual. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
